Making a kumiko pattern requires that you cut a lot of small pieces to exact length and at a precise angle on the ends. It sounds tedious, but bevel blocks equipped with a sliding stop make the process pretty simple. The asa-no-ha design requires three different bevel angles, so a pair of blocks is required.
